I've been out of the hospital for over a week now -- ahh memories. The cantaloupe apparently squooshed my digestive system and made all the food get stuck, so for the first 4 days of my hospital stay were spent pumping my stomach through a medieval torture device tube thing that goes in the nose and down into the belly.
During this stomach-sucking time I wasn't allowed to eat or drink anything. Only ice chips were allowed. However, with nothing but time on my hands, I made a discovery -- ice turns into water! So I dedicated those 96 hours to systematically melting ice chips by warming the cup with my hand, then transferring the drops of water to another cup until I had a few sips to drink. At one point I got a spoon in the ice chip cup, which created a whole new world of ice chip manipulation.
Manufacturing your own water is, of course, against the rules. At one point a nurse discovered what I was up to and took my ice chips away. That's the beauty of family visiting though -- my mom just went and got me more.
I still find myself dreaming about ice chips. Mmmmmm....
